At Daisy’s Legacy, we rescue dogs from shelters and vulnerable situations, helping them find safety, care, and a family of their own.
Many of our dogs have already experienced abandonment, shelter stays, or the loss of a previous home. We are looking for committed adopters who will give them the stability, patience, and lifelong care they deserve.

❤️ Adoption Is a Lifelong Commitment
Welcoming a rescue dog means making room for an animal who may need time to feel safe and understand their new life.
Some dogs settle in quickly. Others need more support with potty training, being alone, household routines, or building trust. Their personality and needs may become clearer as they grow comfortable.
We often have limited information about our dogs’ backgrounds. We cannot guarantee their health, temperament, potty-training status, or compatibility with children and other animals. We share the medical and behavioral information available to us, but a dog’s behavior can change in a new environment, and previously unknown needs may emerge.
Please be prepared to provide patience, consistent routines, veterinary care, and appropriate training throughout your dog’s life.
Our dogs need permanent families willing to work through normal adjustment and training challenges.
🏡 Before You Apply
Please make sure all family and household members agree to the adoption before submitting an application.
Discuss daily responsibilities, work schedules, travel plans, allergies, existing pets, and the ongoing cost of caring for a dog.
Applicants must:
- Be 21 or older.
- Be ready to welcome the dog as a permanent family member.
- Provide a safe indoor home.
- Have the time and financial resources for daily care, training, grooming, routine veterinary care, and unexpected medical needs.
- Have landlord or property-management permission, if renting.
- Provide complete and accurate information about their household, pets, and experience.
- Be willing to follow the adoption agreement and any requirements specific to the dog.
🔎 Our Adoption Process
1. Submit an Application
Complete our adoption application and tell us about your household, lifestyle, experience, and the dog you are interested in.

2. Application Review & Screening
We conduct background and public-record checks, personal-reference checks, and veterinary-reference and record checks as part of our screening process. In some cases, we also conduct a home visit.
The application asks for three personal references who are not related to you, along with information for veterinarians you have used. If you have never had a pet or do not have veterinary records, please explain this in your application.
Please let your references and veterinary offices know we may contact them, and authorize the release of relevant records when needed. For renters, we verify that pets are permitted.
3. Discuss the Match & Meet the Dog
As your application progresses, we will discuss the dog’s known needs and coordinate next steps, including a meet-and-greet when appropriate.
Please ask questions and be honest about what your household can accommodate. A successful adoption depends on a good fit for everyone involved.
4. Finalize the Adoption
Once the match is approved, we will explain the adoption agreement, adoption donation, available medical records, and arrangements for bringing your dog home.
Submitting an application does not reserve a dog or guarantee approval. Decisions are made in the best interest of each animal.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Are your dogs potty-trained?
Some are, some are still learning, and others have an unknown training history. Even a dog who is potty-trained in a foster home may have accidents after moving. Be prepared to establish a routine and offer patient, consistent support.
Do you know each dog’s full history?
Usually not. Dogs may arrive as strays, from shelters, or through rehoming situations with incomplete information. We share what we know and what we have observed while they are in our care.
Can you guarantee a dog’s health or behavior?
No. We provide the information available to us, but we cannot guarantee future health, behavior, or how a dog will respond in every situation. Adopters should be prepared for needs that may become apparent over time.
Will the dog get along with my children or other pets?
Compatibility depends on the individual dog and household. Please read the dog’s profile and disclose all children and animals in your home. Some dogs need an adults-only home or a home without other pets.
Introductions require care and supervision, and a successful initial meeting does not guarantee immediate adjustment at home.
Can I adopt if I rent or live in an apartment?
Yes. We welcome applications from renters and people living in apartments or condos. We will verify permission to have a dog and consider any size, breed, or pet-number restrictions, along with the individual dog’s needs.
Do I need a fenced yard?
Requirements depend on the dog. Some dogs need a securely fenced yard; others may do well with appropriate leash walks and exercise. Please explain your outdoor arrangements in the application.
Can I adopt if I work outside the home?
Tell us about your schedule and how you will provide bathroom breaks, exercise, companionship, and care while you are away. The right match depends on the dog’s age, health, and ability to spend time alone.
What should I expect during the adjustment period?
Your dog may initially be quiet, restless, clingy, uncertain, or less confident than expected. Give them a calm space, predictable routines, and time to settle in. Avoid overwhelming them with visitors, outings, or rushed introductions.
Adjustment takes time, and each dog progresses at their own pace.
What if challenges arise after adoption?
Please contact us early if you have concerns. We encourage adopters to seek appropriate veterinary or training support and work through normal adjustment challenges.
If a serious or unavoidable situation means you can no longer care for your dog, contact Daisy’s Legacy promptly and follow your adoption agreement so we can discuss next steps.
Is there an adoption donation?
Yes. We will confirm the amount for the dog you are applying to adopt. Adoption donations help support rescue and care for dogs in our program. Please also budget for your dog’s ongoing needs throughout their life.
