Caring for Animals Worldwide
Daisy’s Legacy works to improve animal welfare through compassionate, practical, and evidence-informed approaches that reduce suffering and create meaningful change for both animals and people.
We believe animal welfare and human well-being are deeply connected. Creating a safer, healthier, and more compassionate future for animals also improves communities, public health, accountability, and the systems people rely on every day.
Daisy’s Legacy was inspired by a deeply personal tragedy that exposed critical failures in animal protection, medication safety, and accountability systems. Daisy’s story showed how system failures can harm both animals and the people who love them. What began as grief became a broader mission to help build systems that are safer, more compassionate, and more effective for everyone.
Today, our work focuses on reducing suffering and improving outcomes through:

Daisy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was more than just a pet—she was a devoted service dog and cherished companion. Their bond was profound, and Daisy’s presence brought immense joy and support to Miroslava’s life. When Daisy developed a serious heart condition, Miroslava didn’t hesitate to go to extraordinary lengths to save her, even selling her car to fund a life-saving surgery in London. The surgery was successful, and Daisy’s health was restored, bringing a brief period of happiness and relief.
However, this joy was tragically short-lived. Six months after the surgery, Daisy developed a heart arrhythmia. A veterinarian prescribed amiodarone to manage the condition, but an error in the medication dispensing process resulted in a different drug, amlodipine, being provided. Daisy’s health rapidly declined, and despite Miroslava’s desperate efforts, including rushing Daisy to an emergency clinic, the beloved spaniel passed away just days later. The loss was especially painful, knowing that Daisy’s health had been improving prior to this incident.
Daisy’s tragic story became the catalyst for Daisy’s Legacy. The organization was founded to prevent such incidents from happening to others. Daisy’s Legacy is dedicated to advocating for safer prescription practices, providing essential care for pets in need, and educating pet owners on how to best care for their animals. Through this work, Daisy’s memory lives on, ensuring that her legacy helps protect other pets and promotes a world where all animals receive the care and respect they deserve.
