Why This Campaign Matters

There are more pets than children in the United States, yet pets continue to be treated as property under the law and subjected to medical products and practices that would be unacceptable for humans. While over 80% of pet owners consider their pets part of the family, laws, product safety standards, and healthcare practices lag far behind.

The goal of this campaign is to bring urgent awareness to critical issues affecting animal safety, and to push for smarter, more compassionate systems that reflect what our pets truly are – beloved family members.

Outdated airline regulations limit in-cabin pet travel, especially for larger breeds and snub-nosed dogs. Separation from their humans causes anxiety, immune suppression, and emotional trauma.

✅ Action Steps:

• Encourage travel accommodations that treat pets as passengers, not cargo.
• Urge the Department of Transportation ( 202.366.4000) to expand and standardize in-cabin pet policies.
• Ask airlines to accept Titer Certificates in place of unnecessary revaccination.
• Advocate for upgrades at airports: dedicated pet relief areas, spacious in cabin seating, and temperature-controlled boarding.
• Dog parks at each terminal wing.

Isoxazoline-based flea & tick drugs are linked to seizures, tremors, and even death. Despite FDA reports and tens of thousands of pet owners reporting heartbreaking outcomes, these products remain on the market.

• Avoid Isoxazoline-based flea/tick products.
• Read all inserts and warning labels carefully before use.
• Share known safe alternatives like:

• Demand safe products only
• Say NO to harmful products

Many pet brands claim “vet-recommended” or “natural” while hiding harmful ingredients or omitting warnings.

• Advocate for mandatory labeling and advertising of all known risks and side effects.
• Demand third-party audits of adverse event reports.
• Promote honest pet owner reviews as a form of peer validation.
• Educate other pet parents on how to read product labels critically.

In nearly all U.S. states, pets are still legally classified as property — no different than a couch or toaster.
